Gucheng District, belonging to Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, is located in the northeastern part of Lijiang City, connecting Yulong Naxi Autonomous County in the west and north, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in the south, and bordering with Ninglang Yi Autonomous County and Yongsheng County in the east. The total area of the district is 1,262.78 square kilometers. As of the end of 2021, Gucheng District had a total household population of 162,669. There are more than 10 ethnic groups including Naxi, Han, Bai, Tibetan, Yi and Pumi.
On April 1, 2003, Lijiang withdrew from the land and set up a city, the former Lijiang Naxi Autonomous County was divided into Gucheng District and Yulong Naxi Autonomous County. Gucheng District was officially established on May 18 of the same year. As of October 2021, Gucheng District has 7 streets, 2 towns and 2 townships under its jurisdiction, with the district people's government stationed in Xi'an Street. Gucheng District is located in Yunnan, Sichuan, Tibet transportation hub, since ancient times is the Han, Tibet, white, Naxi and other national cultures, economic exchanges hub, is the Southern Silk Road and the "Tea Horse Road" of the town and military strategy. The territory has the world cultural heritage Lijiang ancient city, the world memory heritage of the Naxi Dongba ancient literature, the world natural heritage "three rivers" as well as Chinese and foreign scholars known as the "living fossil of music" of the Naxi ancient music. Tourist attractions mainly include Shuhe Ancient Town, Black Dragon Pool, Guanyin Gorge and other tourist attractions.
In 2021, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Gucheng District will reach 19,778.3 million yuan, with a growth rate of 8.3%.
