Dushanzi District, under the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Karamay City, is located in the northern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains, the southwestern edge of the Junggar Basin, with geographic coordinates 44°07′ to 44°23′ north latitude, 84°43′ to 85°06′ east longitude, the district has a total area of 400.34 square kilometers.In 2021, Dushanzi District had a total population of 86,400 people. Dushanzi District has a northern temperate continental arid climate. As of October 2021, Dushanzi District has three streets under its jurisdiction: Jinshan Road Street, Xining Road Street, and Xinbei District Street. The district's people's government is located at No. 9, Daqing East Road.
Dushanzi District was established in the second year of Emperor Xuandi's Shenjue reign (60 B.C.E.) when the Han Dynasty set up the Western Regions Prefecture, to which Dushanzi was subordinated, and was reestablished in 1990 when Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region restored the city of Kelamayi as a city with a district. Dushanzi is located at the intersection of National Highway 312 and National Highway 217; the U-Kuai Expressway connects with the urban area, and the Kuei-Sai Highway and the Kuei-Ke Expressway pass through the area; the second Eurasian Railway, the U-Jing Railway and the Kuei-Bei Railway connect with Dushanzi from the city. The second Eurasian Railway, Wu-Jing Railway and Kui-North Railway are connected with the special railroad line for Dushanzi's own use, which has an outstanding geographic advantage. The main attractions of Dushanzi are the Mud Volcano, Dushanzi Grand Canyon and Deerhorn Bay. Dushanzi District has been awarded "China's Top 100 Counties and Cities for Water Purification" and "The Second List of Counties in the Area of Protection and Utilization of Revolutionary Cultural Relics".
In 2020, Dushanzi District will have a GDP of 19.128 billion yuan.
