Makgaiti County, belonging to Kashgar Region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the southwestern part of Xinjiang, the eastern part of Kashgar Region, and the southwestern edge of Taklamakan Desert. It is located between 77°28′~79°05′E longitude and 38°25′~39°22′N latitude. The administrative area covers 10,883 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, the household population of Maigaiti County was 238,984. As of October 2021, Magaiti County has jurisdiction over 2 towns, 8 townships, and 3 other township-level units. The county people's government is located in the town of Makgaiti.
During the Han Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of the Shache State. in June 1956, the Shache Commissioner's Office was abolished, and Makgaiti came under the exclusive jurisdiction of Kashgar. S310 to Kashgar and Basha line S215 through the line, S16 Mecca high-speed, S13 Sansha high-speed and G217 national highway in our county intersection, formed a high density transportation network with highway, national highway, provincial highway as the vein, become an important transportation hub city of Kashgar east into the west.
