Hongqiao District, belonging to Tianjin, is one of the city center districts of Tianjin. It is located in the northwestern part of Tianjin urban area, intersected by Hebei and Nankai districts in the southeast, and adjacent to Xiqing and Beichen districts in the northwest, with a total area of 23.73 square kilometers.In 2022, Hongqiao District had a resident population of 428,800. As of June 2023, Hongqiao District has nine streets under its jurisdiction, with the district government located at 202 Qinjian Rd.
In the Jin Dynasty, Zhigu Zhai was built near the mouth of Sanqiaohe, the earliest settlement in the district and in Tianjin. In the Yuan Dynasty, the northern part of the district belonged to Wuqing County, and the southwestern part of the district belonged to Jinghai County. 1956, the eighth district was renamed Hongqiao District because of the name of Dahongqiao (Big Red Bridge) on the Ziya River within the district. It is the only heritage core area with typical sections of the South Canal and the North Canal Urban Canal, a famous historical and cultural area, the birthplace of the city of Tianjin, the birthplace of modern commerce in Tianjin, the birthplace of North China's machinery casting industry, and the birthplace of modern education.
In 2022, the gross regional product of Hongqiao District was 18.077 billion yuan, an increase of 1.9%. By industry, the added value of the secondary industry is 723 million yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry is 17.355 billion yuan.
