Fenxi County, belonging to Linfen City, Shanxi Province, is located in the north of Linfen City, at the southeastern foot of Lvliang Mountain, connecting Jiaokou County of Lvliang City in the north, Lingshi County of Jinzhong City in the south, Hongdong County in the south, bordering with Xi Xian and Pu Xian according to Gushu Mountain in the west, and neighboring Fen River in the east and Huozhou City, with a total area of 880 square kilometers. As of 2018, Fenxi County has 5 towns and 3 townships under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2021, Fenxi County had a resident population of 98,509.
As early as in the Neolithic era more than 4000 years ago, Fenxi had human beings flourishing, and the county was first established in Northern Qi. Fu Mengchen was the left minister of the Yuan Dynasty, and Hou Qixian was a government official in the Qing Dynasty. In modern times, there were outstanding early leaders of the Communist Party, such as Xing Shizhen, who died with Peng Pei, and Li Miaosai, who fought side by side with Xi Zhongxun.
In 2021, Fenxi County realized a gross regional product of 2.80806 billion yuan, of which the added value of the primary industry was 459.02 million yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 744.27 million yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry was 1.60477 billion yuan. The per capita GDP was 27,711 yuan, or 4,295 dollars at the average exchange rate in 2021.
