Changzi County, belonging to Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, is located in the southeastern part of Shanxi Province, southwest of Shangdian Basin, between 35°53′~36°15′ north latitude and 112°27′~113°00′ east longitude. The total area of the county is 1029 square kilometers. Changzi County has a warm-temperate continental monsoon climate, influenced by the alternating forces of cold and warm air, with four distinct seasons, mild climate, rain and heat in the same season, and strong monsoons. As of 2018, Changzi County has 7 towns and 5 townships under its jurisdiction, with the county government located in Danzhu Town. According to the seventh census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Changzi County was 298,690 people.
Changzi County has a long history and got its name from Dan Zhu, the eldest son of King Yao in ancient times, who was sealed here. During the Sixteen Kingdoms of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Murong Yong claimed the throne of Changzi and became the capital of Western Yan. During the reign of Kaihuang in the Sui Dynasty, the name of the county was restored to Changzi, and the name of the county has remained unchanged through the generations since then. Changzi County, convenient transportation, the ancient Jin-Yu thoroughfare, Qin-Jin thoroughfare, the county is only 20 kilometers from the city, the provincial highway 228, 326 and long Lin high-speed through the territory, Taijiao Railway, the South China Railway in the intersection of the South China Railway, the largest railroad station along the railroad grouping. In the south of Changzi County, there is Yangtou Mountain, where the ancestor Emperor Yan Di tasted all kinds of herbs, got the harvest, and taught the people to farm. In the west, there is Fajiao Mountain, which is the birthplace of the famous myth and legend "Jingwei reclamation". In the southwestern part of Xianweng Mountain, there are 250 million years old fossilized wood communities. There are also famous monuments such as Warring States Tomb, Faxing Temple, Chongqing Temple, etc. There are 12 national key cultural relics protection units.
In December 2019, it became a national pilot unit for the construction of rural governance system.
