Xuhui District is located in the southwestern part of the central city of Shanghai, north of Changle Road, Huashan Road, Xingguo Road, West Huaihai Road, Kaixuan Road, bordering Jing'an District, Changning District; east of Ruijin South Road, South Shaanxi Road and Huangpu District; and bordering the Huangpu River and Pudong New Area across the river, with the Xupu Bridge and its connection; southwest of Hongmei Road, Zhumei Road, the old Humin Road and Huajing Town Guan Gang Village, the boundaries of the Minhang District; the whole territory east-west distance between the 7 kilometers from east to west and 13 kilometers from north to south. Xujiahui is an urban sub-center in the southwestern part of Shanghai. Xuhui is one of the central urban areas that have basically completed the transformation of old areas earlier. The district is home to the famous Jiaotong University, as well as the Xujiahui Catholic Church and other buildings of profound humanity. Xuhui District is crisscrossed with railroads, waterways, interchanges and elevated roads, and is a major transportation route for the city center to and from Minhang, Fengxian, Pudong New Area, Jinshan, Qingpu and other districts, as well as to and from provinces such as Jiang, Zhejiang, Fujian, Gan and Anhui. Xuhui District focuses on the development of information technology, modern biomedicine, nano new materials and other high-tech industries, the formation of district industrial electronic information industry and biomedicine industry development of industrial scale. Xuhui District is located in the southwestern part of the city, with a longitude of 120.26 degrees east and a latitude of 31.12 degrees north, with a total area of 54.93 square kilometers, including a land area of 50.94 square kilometers and a water area of 3.82 square kilometers.In 2017, Xuhui District was reconfirmed as a national sanitary city (district).In November 2017, it was honored with the glorious title of National Civilized City.
