Fengxian District, part of Shanghai, is located at the southeast end of the Yangtze River Delta, in the south of Shanghai, bordering Pudong New District in the east, Jinshan District and Songjiang District in the west, Hangzhou Bay in the south, and Minhang District in the north across the Huangpu River. It is 42 km away from People's Square in the center of Shanghai and 30 km away from Pudong International Airport, with 13.7 km of riverbank and 31.6 km of coastline, covering a total area of 733.38 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Fengxian District has 3 streets and 8 towns under its jurisdiction, and another tourism district. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Fengxian District was 1,163,300 people. According to legend, Confucius disciple "seventy-two sages," the ninth Yan Yan, late in life, returned to his hometown of Jiangnan preaching and lecturing, its last stop that is the ancient land of Fengxian, deeply respected by the local people. Qing Yongzheng four years (1726) Fengxian set up the county, in honor of the people worship the sage, named "Fengxian", "respect for the wise" meaning. In 2023, Fengxian District realized a GDP of 141.471 billion yuan, a comparable growth of 3.4%. The proportion of the three industrial structure of the district was 0.6:63.9:35.5. The added value of the primary industry amounted to 903 million yuan, with a comparable growth rate of 4.3%; the added value of the secondary industry amounted to 90.318 billion yuan, with a comparable growth rate of 2.9%; of which the added value of the industrial sector accounted for 62.1% of the total added value, realizing 87.850 billion yuan, with a comparable growth rate of 2.6%, and contributing to 48.7% to the GDP; the added value of the tertiary sector was 48.7%. 48.7%; the added value of the tertiary industry amounted to 50.25 billion yuan, with a comparable growth rate of 4.2% and a contribution rate of 43.0% to the GDP.
