Muping District, belongs to Yantai City, Shandong Province. It is located in the east of Shandong Peninsula, east of Huanjui District and Wendeng District; west of Fushan District, Laishan District and Qixia City; south of Lushan City, north of Dalian across the Yellow Sea, southwest of Haiyang City, with a total area of 1,515.23 square kilometers.In 2022, Muping District had a total population of 413,900 people. As of June 2023, Muping District has 5 streets and 8 towns under its jurisdiction. Muping is named after the gentle land at the sun of Mushan. At the beginning of the Western Han Dynasty, Dongmou County was established. In 1914, it was renamed Muping County after Ninghai County, and in 1995, Muping County was abolished and Muping District was established. It is a national green agriculture demonstration area and a national safe fishery demonstration area. In 2022, the gross regional product of Muping District was 36.056 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7%.
