Linyi County belongs to Dezhou City, Shandong Province, adjoining Shanghe County of Jinan City in the east, neighboring Yucheng City, Pingyuan County and Lingsheng District in the west, facing Qihe County in the south across the Tuhe River, and bounded by Leling City in the north by the Mahe River, 50 kilometers away from Dezhou in the west, 60 kilometers away from Jinan in the south, 300 kilometers away from Beijing in the north, 200 kilometers away from Tianjin in the north, and 100 kilometers away from Binzhou Terminal in the east, 300 kilometers away from Qingdao Terminal in the east, which is situated in the Bohai Economic Circle, Yellow River Delta and "Beijing-Jiu" Economic Development Zone. It is located in the Bohai Economic Circle, the Yellow River Delta and the "Beijing-Kowloon" economic development belt. As of the end of 2022, Linyi County has a resident population of 466,700 people. With a total area of 1,016 square kilometers, it has 8 towns, 1 township, 3 streets, and 1 provincial-level economic development zone.In 2016, Linyi county was abolished as a county and set up as a city, and the work is in full swing.
Linyi County was established in Qin Dynasty and has a history of more than 2,000 years. It is the hometown of Meng Jiao, a great poet in Tang Dynasty, Xing Dong, a calligrapher in Ming Dynasty, Deng Guangming, a historian in modern times, Song Yugui, a Chinese painter, Liu Xilin, an art critic, Shan Tianfang, a book critic, and Zhu Mingying, a singer; and it is also home to the local opera of "Yigou", national and provincial intangible cultural heritages such as "Yigougou" local theater, "De Ping Dahang Song", and the hometown of Chinese Calligraphy.
On December 29, 2018, Linyi County was named by the National People's Committee as one of the sixth batch of national ethnic unity and progress creation demonstration districts (units).
In 2022, Linyi County's county-wide gross domestic product (GDP) will be 32.14 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.5% at comparable prices.
