Tianquan County, belonging to Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, is located in the western edge of the Sichuan Basin, bordering Lushan County and Yucheng District in the east, Xingjing County in the south, Luding County and Kangding City in the west, and Baoxing County in the north. The jurisdiction is about 60 kilometers long from east to west and 50 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 2,400 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of seven towns and three townships. As of the end of 2022, the registered population of Tianquan County was 147,276.
Tianquan County has a long history, the ancient "key to the southwest, Nanzhao throat", is an important natural ecological barrier in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, known as the southwest Sichuan ethnic corridor, ecological corridor. Tianquan County has a subtropical monsoon climate, with an annual precipitation of 1,576.1 millimeters and an average temperature of 15.3 degrees Celsius. Sichuan-Tibet Highway, Yakang Expressway and Sichuan-Tibet Railway pass through Tianquan County. According to the unified accounting results of regional gross domestic product (GDP), Tianquan County realized an annual GDP of 9.308 billion yuan in 2023, a year-on-year growth of 6.1% at comparable prices.
