Yogan County, anciently known as "Yuhan", belongs to Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. It is located in the northeastern part of Jiangxi Province, on the southeast shore of Poyang Lake and the lower reaches of Xinjiang River, bordering on Wannian County in the east, adjacent to Yujiang District of Yingtan City and Dongxiang District of Fuzhou City in the south, and connected to Jinxian County, Xinjian District, and Nanchang County of Nanchang City in the west, and neighboring with Poyang County in the north, and Duchang County across the lake. The total area of the county is 2,336 square kilometers, with 9 towns, 11 townships and 7 farms under the jurisdiction of the county. 2021, Yugen County has a permanent population of 832,400 people.
Yogan County is named after the dryness of Yu Shui, it was called Yuhan County in the beginning of Western Han Dynasty, and was renamed Yogan County during the Yongchu period of Song Dynasty in Southern China. after the liberation of Yogan County on May 7, 1949, it was successively belonged to Poyang Prefecture, Leping Prefecture, Fuliang Prefecture, Shangrao Prefecture, Shangrao Region, and in October, 2000, Shangrao Region was abolished to set up a city, and Yogan County belonged to the jurisdiction of Shangrao City. The largest river in Yugen County is Xinjiang River, which runs through the whole area with a length of 146.5 kilometers; the largest lake is Kanshan Lake, which is the second largest inner lake in Jiangxi Province, with an area of about 7.5 square kilometers; the highest peak is Limei Ridge, with an altitude of 290 meters; and the lowest point is the Emperor's Hat in the north, with an altitude of about 13 meters.
In 2021, Yogan County will realize a gross regional product of 23.85 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7% at comparable prices; and realize a general budget revenue of 1.25 billion yuan, an increase of 3.7% over 2020.
