Guangchang County, belonging to Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the south of Fuzhou City and the western foot of Wuyi Mountain, neighboring Jianning County and Ninghua County of Fujian Province in the east, Shicheng County in the south, Ningdu County in the west, and bordering Nanfeng County in the north. The county has a total area of 1,612 square kilometers, with 6 towns and 5 townships under its jurisdiction.At the end of 2021, Guangchang County had a resident population of 201,400, of which 116,100 were urban and 85,300 were rural.
Guangchang County is an important settlement county of Jiangyou folk system, and also the hometown of Chinese white lotus. The county was established in the 8th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1138), and was named after "the road that leads to Min Guang, the county belongs to Jianchang". Guangchang is the largest white lotus research and production center, distribution center and price formation center in China, known as "the hometown of Chinese white lotus" and "the hometown of Chinese lotus culture". Guangchang white lotus was first planted in the Tang Dynasty during the Yifeng years, more than 1,300 years ago, for generations of "tribute", is a national geographic indications protected products. Among them, Yaoxi Lotus Sea Scenic Spot has successfully challenged the Guinness World Record of "World's Largest Lotus Pond", and the Lotus Culture System has been listed in the fourth batch of national important agricultural cultural heritage. Guangchang has the Ming and Qing Dynasty ancient architectural complexes in Yizian Town, a national historical and cultural town, and the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage "Guangchang Meng Opera", which has been passed down for more than 600 years.
In 2021, Guangchang County realized a GDP of 9.519 billion yuan, an increase of 8.2% year-on-year.
