Guixi City, Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, county-level city, is located in northeastern Jiangxi Province, east of Yiyang County and Leadshan County, southeast of the border with Fujian Province, Glossy County, south of the border with Zixi County, west of the border with Yingtan City, Yuehu District, Yujiang District, and Jixi County, and north of the border with Wannian County. Guixi City covers an area of 2,480 square kilometers, with 18 townships, 4 streets, and 7 forestry (reclamation and horticulture) farms.At the end of 2021, Guixi City had a resident population of 543,300 people.
Guixi City is located in the hinterland of the Yangtze, Pearl and Fujian economic zones. It was founded as a county in the first year of Yongtai of the Tang Dynasty (765), and was abolished as a county and set up as a city in 1996. Guixi has the important location feature of "connecting Jiangsu and Zhejiang in the east and controlling Ou Min in the south", and has the reputation of "thoroughfare of four provinces". There are four railroads in Guixi, including Hukun Railway, Anhui-Gan Railway, Yingxia Railway and Hukun High-speed Railway, as well as National Highway 320, National Highway 206, Hukun Expressway and Jiguang Expressway. Longhu Mountain Scenic Spot is located in Guixi City, which is a World Geopark, a National Natural and Cultural Double Heritage Site, a National 5A Grade Tourist Scenic Spot, and a National Forest Park.
Guixi is the birthplace of Chinese Taoism. Zhang Daoling, the first Heavenly Master, founded the Tao of Heavenly Masters in Longhu Mountain, which has been more than 1900 years since then. Guixi is the birthplace of the "Science of Mind". The Xiangshan Academy, founded by Lu Jiufen, a famous rationalist and educator, is one of the four major academies in the Southern Song Dynasty. Guixi is an important part of the revolutionary base in northeast Gan under the leadership of Fang Zhimin, and is the birthplace of the Tenth Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army.
In 2021, Guixi realized a GDP of 59.232 billion yuan, with a comparable growth of 9.5%.
