Dongxiang District, belonging to Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the eastern part of Jiangxi Province, in the transition zone between Gandong Hills and Poyang Lake Plain, neighboring Yujiang District of Yingtan City in the east, Jinki County and Linchuan District in the south, Linchuan District and Jinxian County in the west, and bordering with Yugan County in the north. The district has a total area of 1,196 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 15 townships (streets), 3 reclamation farms (forest farms) and a provincial economic development zone. As of the end of 2020, the resident population of Dongxiang District was 383,800 people.
The county was founded in the seventh year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty (1512), and the county was withdrawn and set up as a district in 2017, which was named Dongxiang because most of its jurisdiction is to the east of Linchuan. Dongxiang District is located in the transition zone between the hills of Gandong and the plain of Poyang Lake, and is an important settlement and reproduction place for the Jiangwu folk line. The Hukun High-speed Railway, Hukun Railway, Hukun Expressway, Dongchang Expressway and 320 National Highway pass through the district.
In 2021, Dongxiang District will realize a regional GDP of 21.386 billion yuan, an increase of 8.4%; fiscal revenue of 3.307 billion yuan, an increase of 19.33%; general public budget revenue of 1.801 billion yuan, an increase of 1%.
