Zhonglou District, belonging to Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the center area of Changzhou City, the western part of the city, connected with Tianning District in the east and southeast, Wujin District in the west and southwest, and bordering with Xinbei District in the north, with the geographic coordinates between 119°08′-120°12′ east longitude and 31°09′-32°04′ north latitude, and the total area of the district is 145.48 square kilometers, with a total land area of 132.93 square kilometers. Zhonglou District belongs to the subtropical monsoon climate zone, with abundant rainfall, abundant sunshine, warmth and humidity, and four distinct seasons. As of March 2023, Zhonglou District has 1 provincial economic development zone, 1 town (high-tech park) and 7 streets under its jurisdiction, with the district people's government stationed at No. 88 Xinggang Avenue in Changzhou. As of the end of 2022, Zhonglou District had a total household population of 446,200.
Zhonglou District has a long history and was inhabited by human beings in the prehistoric period. It belonged to Biling County in the Han Dynasty and was renamed Zhonglou District in 1980. It was named after the ancient bell tower built in the Southern Tang Dynasty. There are Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, 312 National Highway and Xinchang Railway passing through the city and the territory. Zhonglou District is a national community building demonstration district, a national basic balanced compulsory education development district, a 2018 national top 100 district for science and technology innovation, a national top 100 district for green development, and a 2019 national top 100 district for science and technology innovation. There are attractions such as South Street Business and Leisure Zone, Canal 5 Creative Neighborhood, Golden Eagle International Ocean World (Changzhou), Qingfeng Park, Jingchuan Park, Lotus Garden, Orchid Garden and so on.
In 2022, Zhonglou District completed a GDP of 89.447 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 2.0% at constant prices. Divided by three industries, the primary industry completed added value of 251 million yuan, down 0.8%; the secondary industry completed added value of 26.750 billion yuan, down 1.5%; the tertiary industry completed added value of 62.446 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5%.
