Jintan District, belonging to Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located in the south of Jiangsu Province, the geographic center of Ning (Nanjing), Shanghai (Shanghai), Hangzhou (Hangzhou), between latitude 31°33′42″ to 31°53′22″ north, longitude 119°17′45″ to 119°44′59″ east, east of Changzhou City, Wujin District, west of the border of Maoshan, border with the city of Jurong, the south of the border of Changdang Lake, and Liyang, Yixing City by the water, north and Danyang City, Zhenjiang Dantu District adjacent to a total area of 975.46 square kilometers. Jintan District has a northern subtropical monsoon humid climate with four distinct seasons, abundant sunshine, abundant rainfall and a long frost-free period. As of June 2022, Jintan District has six towns and three streets under its jurisdiction. The district people's government is located in Xicheng Street. As of the end of 2022, Jintan District had a resident population of 594,600.
Jintan has a long history, as early as the Stone Age, there are ancestors inhabited, survival. It was changed to Jintan County in the fourth year of the Wu Zhou Dynasty (688). The name of the county has remained unchanged, but there have been many changes in its territory and affiliation. on November 10, 1993, approved by the State Council, Jintan County was abolished and Jintan City (county level) was established. in April 2015, approved by the State Council, Jintan City (county level) was abolished and Jintan District of Changzhou City was established. Jintan District is crossed by Changzhou-Lishui Highway from east to west and Zhenjiang-Guangde Highway from north to south. It has been awarded the honorary titles of National Advanced Unit of Culture, National Garden City, the second batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization piece area county, "Four Good Rural Roads" National Demonstration County, and Civilized City of Jiangsu Province. There are such attractions as Oriental Salt Lake City, Flower Valley Wonderful Tourism Scenic Spot, Maoshan Forest World, Hua Luogeng Park, Jintan Museum and so on.
In 2022, Jintan District realized a regional gross domestic product (GDP) of 121.640 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 6.8% at comparable prices. Among them, the added value of primary industry is 4.349 billion yuan, an increase of 5.5%; the added value of secondary industry is 66.920 billion yuan, an increase of 11.7%; the added value of tertiary industry is 50.371 billion yuan, an increase of 1.4%.
