Liaoyuan City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jilin Province, is located in the south-central part of Jilin Province, in the upper reaches of the Dongliao River and Huifa River, named after the Dongliao River which originates here. It is located in the transition zone from the Changbai Mountainous Region to the Songliao Plain, mainly hilly, with a small number of low mountains, belonging to the low mountainous and hilly area, with a geographical overview of "five mountains, one water and four fields", and a total area of 5138.72 square kilometers. As of October 2022, the city has two districts and two counties under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, the city's total household population was 1,314,400 people. Liaoyuan City has a long history and rich cultural heritage, with human activities in the Bronze Age, one of the important birthplaces of the Manchu people, and was set up as a royal Shengjing paddock during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. Because of the first artificial reindeer rearing in China, it is known as "the hometown of Chinese reindeer". In 1902, the county system was established after the ban was lifted, and in 1983, it was upgraded to a prefecture-level city. Liaoyuan is an important node city located in the core area of the transformation of central Jilin Province, once had a coal rise, because of the coal and the splendor of the establishment, known as the "Northeast small Shanghai". Liaoyuan location conditions are good, National Highway 303, four Mei Railway throughout the territory, Liaosi Railway, Changliao high-speed, Yingmei high-speed, Jigusa high-speed constitute a comprehensive transportation system. Urban Longshou Mountain, North Mountain, Luanjie Mountain, Xiangyang Mountain, Liming Mountain, five mountains echo, Dongliao River, Weijin River, Lishu River, half of the river surrounded by four water, Xuanmen the first tower - Kuixing Tower stands on the banks of the Dongliao River. In 2022, Liaoyuan realized a GDP of 50.101 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 3.8%.
