Liuhe County, Tonghua City, Jilin Province, under the jurisdiction of the county, is located in southeastern Jilin Province, northwestern Tonghua City, is located in the transition zone from the Changbai Mountains to the Songliao Plain, belongs to the north temperate continental monsoon climate, adjacent to eight districts and counties, with a total area of 3348.3 square kilometers. As of October 2021, Liuhe County has 3 streets, 12 towns and 3 townships under its jurisdiction. According to the seventh national census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population was 274,400 people.
The name Liuhe County comes from Liuhe Township, the eastern suburb of Liuhe Hezi, named after the river, referred to as Liuhe. Qing Guangxu thirty-two years (1906), renamed Liuhe Town; Republic of China eighteen years (1929), directly under the Liaoning Province; August 24, 1954, transferred to Jilin Province, Tonghua District Administrative Office jurisdiction; in January 1986, changed to belong to Tonghua City. The main attractions of Liuxian County include Jilin Luotong Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve, Jilin Sanxianjiao National Forest Park, and Luotong Mountain City. on September 4, 2018, Liuxian County was selected into the list of national demonstration counties of "Four Good Rural Roads". on June 30, 2020, Liuxian County was selected into the list of "the second batch of counties of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization area". On June 30, 2020, Liuhe County was selected as one of the "second batch of counties in the protection of revolutionary cultural relics"; on October 20, 2020, Liuhe County was selected as one of the "National Model Cities (Counties) of Double Embrace".
In 2021, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Liuhe County is expected to grow by 8%, with the ratio of added value of primary, secondary and tertiary industries at 26:24:50; investment in fixed assets will reach 3.288 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 20%; total retail sales of consumer goods will reach 2 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 10%.
