Ji'an City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jilin Province, administered by Tonghua City, is located in southeastern Jilin Province and southern Tonghua City, at the southwestern foothills of the Changbai Mountains, with a continental climate in the north temperate zone, adjacent to five districts and counties, with a total area of 3,341 square kilometers. Ji'an City, southeast of the Yalu River and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the territory of Ji'an Port is one of the three major ports of China's trade with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and is also the only port city in Tonghua City. As of October 2022, Ji'an City has 4 streets, 9 towns, 1 township, and 1 ethnic township under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2021, Ji'an had a total population of 206,409.
Chian, originally named Zhuan (meaning "peace"), from the Historical Records of the Grand Historian (史记-司马相如传), "His Majesty ascended the throne, subjugated the world, and settled China." In 2021, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Ji'an City will be 7.287 billion yuan, with a year-on-year growth of 6.6%, and the ratio of value added of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries will be 1.076:22.73:66.51; the general public budget expenditures will be 2.901 billion yuan; the retail sales of consumer goods will be 2.213 billion yuan; the total investment in fixed assets of all societies will be 3.520 billion yuan; the per capita disposable income of the residents of the rural areas and the towns will reach 17.4 million yuan. Per capita disposable income of rural and urban residents reached 17,428 yuan and 29,205 yuan, an increase of 8.7% and 7.6% respectively.
