Longyao County, belonging to Xingtai City, Hebei Province, is located in the central part of Xingtai City, bordered by Baxiang County and Ningjin County in the north, Renze District in the south, Neiqiu County and Lincheng County in the west, and Julu County in the east. It has a total area of 749 square kilometers, a resident population of 480,447 (2020), and 276 administrative villages in 12 townships.
Longyao County, with a history of more than 2,200 years, is the place where Emperor Yao of ancient times was first feudalized, and was formed by the merger of Longping County and Yao Shan County. It is one of the nine counties in Xingzhou, the ancestral home of Li Tang's royal family, where Emperor Yao sealed the frontier, and the history of which has produced famous generals such as Li Mu of the Warring States, Guo Wei of the Later Zhou Emperor, Chai Rong, and Yen-Tseng, the translator of Sui, etc. There are national key cultural relics protection units such as Tang Ancestral Mausoleum of Longyao, and Cypress People's City, and Longyao Rice-planting Songs, Zhaosi Drums, and Zebian Lifting Pavilions are listed in the national non-heritages list.
In 2021, the GDP of Longyao County will be 12.25 billion yuan, an increase of 6.4%; the general public budget revenue will be 740 million yuan, an increase of 17.8%.
