Handan District, part of Handan City, Hebei Province. Located in the south of Hebei Province, Handan City, east of the southern part of the city, by the Handan Mountain and named. It has a total area of 430 square kilometers. As of June 2023, Handanshan District has 11 streets, 2 towns, and 2 townships under its jurisdiction. According to the seventh census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Hanshan District was 614,303 people.
Handan District has a number of historical and cultural relics such as Zhao Wangcheng Ruins Park, Lian Po's Tomb, Xifei's Tomb, etc.; it is the location of the former site of the Jin-Hei-Lu-Yu Border Region Government and Military District, and the birthplace of the People's Daily; the Jin-Hei-Lu-Yu Martyrs' Mausoleum is a national key revolutionary historical cultural relics protection unit; and Handan Higher Education District is located in the southeastern part of the district. Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Handan-Jinan Railway, Handan-Changsha Railway, Handan-Huangzhou Railway, Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway crisscrossing the Central Plains, the second largest railroad grouping station, Handan International Dry Port is located, 107 National Highway, 309 National Highway, Beijing-Hong Kong-Australia Expressway, Qinglan Expressway to form a double-crossing, the expansion of Handan Airport's hub airport of one million people throughput capacity has been completed in 2011. With the completion of the Handan-Huangyang Railway in 2013, the connection with Huanghua Port and Jingtang Port will be faster. It is a four-province junction area with railroad crossings, high-speed interchanges and airports.In April 2020, Handanshan District was selected by the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau as the "Best County (City, District) for Sports Work in 2019".
In 2022, the GDP of Handan District completed 23.43 billion yuan.
