Guazhou County, belongs to Jiuquan City, Gansu Province. Located at the western end of the Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province, it is bordered by Yumen City in the east, Dunhuang City in the west, Subei County in the north and south, and Hami City in the northwest, with a total area of 24,000 square kilometers.In 2022, Guazhou County had a resident population of 132,800 people. As of June 2023, Guazhou County has 10 towns and 5 townships under its jurisdiction.
Guazhou County, the second year of Han Emperor Wudi Yuanhari (121 BC), belongs to Jiuquan County; Qing Dynasty Qianlong twenty-four years (AD 1759), set up Anxi Prefecture; October 7, 1949, the Anxi County People's Government was established under the Jiuquan Prefecture Administration; in 2006, the name was changed to Guazhou County. As of May 2022, there are 465 immovable cultural relics sites protection units in Guazhou County, including 1 world cultural heritage site, 10 national cultural relics protection units, and 11 provincial cultural relics protection units.On October 10, 2018, the Gansu provincial government approved the withdrawal of Guazhou County from the poverty-stricken counties.On January 22, 2020, it was named a national garden county by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
