Haojiang District, belonging to Shantou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southeastern part of Shantou City and the central part of the Chaoshan Plain, with the geographic coordinates of longitude 116°61′~116°82′E and latitude 23°20'~23°34′N. The district is bordered by the South China Sea in the southeast and by Chaoyang District in the west, and by Jinping District and Longhu District in the north. Haojiang territory was under the jurisdiction of Jieyang County, Nanhai County in Qin Dynasty.In January 2003, Dahao District and Hepu District were merged and set up as Haojiang District, Shantou City, a municipal district. As of October 2022, Haojiang District has seven streets under its jurisdiction. The district government is located at Fuqian Road, Dalao Street. Haojiang District is surrounded by the sea on three sides, with both inner and outer bays, and brings together key transportation nodes such as Guang'ao Port Area, Shantou Free Trade Zone, port dredging railroad, Shantou-Shantou High-speed Railway, Shenzhen-Shantou Expressway, and Shan-Zhan Expressway. The Bay Bridge, Boulder Bridge and the under-construction Bay Tunnel and Niu Tian Yang Passage will run through the north and south districts. There are intangible cultural heritages such as Chao music, calligraphy and painting, lantern riddles, couplets, etc., tourism resources and specialties such as Boulder Scenic Area, CITIC Resort, Dahao Fish Balls, Fish Rice Making Technique, Hedu Battery Ruins, Wu's Family Temple.
