Meixian District, belonging to Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, Central Soviet County, is located in northeastern Guangdong Province, the upper reaches of the Han River, the central part of Meizhou City, between latitude 23°55′-24°48′ north and longitude 115°47′-116°33′ east, with a total area of jurisdiction of 2,482.86 square kilometers. As of 2018, Meixian District has 19 towns under its jurisdiction; it also has 1 township-level unit. The district government is located at 13 Xianzi South Road, Chengjiang Town. According to the seventh population census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, Meixian District had a resident population of 556,735 people.
Meixian District was founded in the Qin Dynasty, the Northern Song Dynasty Kaibao four years (971), change Jingzhou for Meizhou; Republic of China in the first year (1912) abolished the state system, Meizhou renamed Meixian.
