Futian District (福田区), a district of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, is the central city of Shenzhen, the seat of the municipal government, and the city's center of administration, finance, culture, commerce, and international exchanges.It was established in October 1990 with the approval of the State Council. As of August 2022, Futian District has 10 streets and 92 communities under its jurisdiction. The resident population of the district is about 1.56 million, the household population is about 1.237 million, and the actual population under management is about 2.2 million.
Futian District is located in the middle area of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, between 113°59′~114°06′East Longitude and 22°30′~22°36′North Latitude, with a total area of 78.66 square kilometers, accounting for about 4% of the total area of Shenzhen City, and possessing the Central Business District of Shenzhen. It mainly consists of the central city and the belt-shaped economic development area on both sides of Shennan Avenue and some hills, mountains and beaches, with high topography in the north and low in the south, located south of the Tropic of Cancer, and belongs to the subtropical maritime climate zone.
In 2022, Futian District realized a GDP of 551.449 billion yuan, an increase of 3.0% over 2021 at comparable prices.
