Quanjiao County, belonging to Chuzhou City, Anhui Province, is located in the eastern part of Anhui Province, southwest of Chuzhou City, south of the Jianghuai Watershed, between Hefei City and Nanjing City, surrounded by the Nanqiao District of Chuzhou City, Pukou District of Nanjing City, and the counties of Wo County of Ma'anshan City and Henshan County of Ma'anshan City, Chaohu City of Hefei City, and Feidong County of Hefei City, respectively, and covers a total area of 1,568 square kilometers. As of November 2020, Quanjiao County has 10 towns under its jurisdiction, and the resident population of Quanjiao County at the end of 2022 was 402,000 people.
Quanjiao is said to have been founded by the ancient Gao Yang Clan in the Jiao Ling Mountains as the ancient state of Jiao. In the Spring and Autumn period, it was the Chu Pepper County, and later it was inhabited by Quanjia Clan, so it was named "Quanjia". In the Western Han Dynasty, Quanjiao County was established, belonging to Huainan State. in January 1993, Chu County was abolished and Chuzhou City (prefecture level) was established, with Quanjiao County under its jurisdiction. Quanjiao is China's toponymic cultural heritage "thousand-year-old county", the hometown of Chinese folk culture and art.
Since ancient times, Quanjiao has had a flourishing literary style, and there has been no shortage of literati and scholars. It has nurtured nearly a hundred scholars, such as Michael Chang, the famous prime minister of the Tang Dynasty; Master Han Shan, one of the "Four Great Monks" of the Ming Dynasty; Zhou Xiangeng, the founder of experimental and applied psychology in China; Zhu Jingshei, the founding father of the urban planning and water sanitation professions in China; and Wang Yaotian, the pioneer of the study of restoration of the customs negotiation in China. The most famous one is Wu Jingzi, the author of "The Outer History of Confucianism", which was called by Lu Xun as the first real satirical literature in China, pioneering the Chinese satirical novel.
In 2022, Quanjiao County will realize a GDP of 33.66 billion yuan, an increase of 4.3% from 2021 at comparable prices.
