Ningguo City, the ancient name of Ningyang, county-level city under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province, by the Xuancheng City, located in southeastern Anhui Province, the junction of Anhui and Zhejiang, with a total area of 2,487 square kilometers. Neighboring Hangzhou to the east and Huangshan to the west, it connects seven counties and cities in Anhui (Anhui) and Zhejiang (Zhejiang) provinces, and is 170 to 300 kilometers away from the core cities of the Yangtze River Delta, such as Shanghai (Shanghai), Ning (Nanjing) and Hangzhou (Hangzhou). As of the end of 2022, Ningguo City had a household population of 378,000 people.
In the 13th year of Jian'an (208) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Sun Quan divided the southern part of Wanling County and set up Huai'an County and Ningguo County. The name of Ningguo City is taken from the meaning of "the first populace, all the countries are peaceful", which means "the state is peaceful, the country is peaceful, and long-term peace and stability".On March 11, 1997, Ningguo was established as a city (county-level city). As of October 2023, Ningguo City has 6 streets, 5 townships, 8 towns, and 1 national development zone, and the municipal government is located in Xijin Street. Ningguo City is known as "eight mountains, one water, half of the fields, half of the roads and estates", the territory of Dongjin, Zhongjin, Xijin three rivers through the city, with a national water conservancy scenic area, the national forest park Qinglong Lake; with a provincial-level Banqiao Nature Reserve and the last primitive forests of the northern subtropics; with a national level of protection of species, known as the "pandas in the plant world". Ningguo City is also home to the city's national protected tree species, known as "giant panda in the botanical world", and the city's flower, the Jiangnan peony, which has the reputation of "Luoyang in the north and Ningguo in the south". Ningguo City has been awarded as National Civilized City, National Ecological City, National Garden City, Top Ten Most Beautiful Towns in Beautiful China, and China's Excellent Tourism City.
In 2023, Ningguo City's GDP was 46.04 billion yuan, up 7.0% year-on-year. The added value of primary industry is 2.82 billion yuan, up 4.3% year-on-year; the added value of secondary industry is 26.25 billion yuan, up 7.3% year-on-year; the added value of tertiary industry is 16.97 billion yuan, up 6.8% year-on-year.
