Guangde City, county-level city under the jurisdiction of Anhui Province, administered by Xuancheng City. Located in the west of the Yangtze River Delta, southeastern Anhui Province, Suzhou, Zhejiang and Anhui junction, east and southeast of Zhejiang Province, Changxing County, Anji County, south of Ningguo City, west of Xuancheng Xuancheng District, Langxi County, north of the border of Jiangsu Province, Liyang City, Yixing City. It lies between 30°37′-31°12′ north latitude and 119°02′-119°40′ east longitude, with a total area of 2,165 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Guangde City has 3 streets, 6 towns and 3 townships under its jurisdiction. As of the end of 2022, Guangde had a household population of 514,000 people.
Anciently known as Tongbian (汭), Guangde has a history of more than 1,800 years since the county was founded. During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it belonged to the states of Wu, Yue and Chu successively. In August 2019, the State Council approved the abolition of Guangde County and the establishment of county-level Guangde City. Guangde is the birthplace of Chen Zhuang, a leader of peasant revolt in the Tang Dynasty, Zhang Guangzao, a famous minister in the late Qing Dynasty, and Xu Jie, a geologist and stratigraphic paleontologist.
In 2022, Guangde City realized a gross domestic product (GDP) of 40.43 billion yuan, and by industry, the added value of the primary industry was 2.97 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry was 20.29 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry was 17.17 billion yuan. The structure of the three industries will be adjusted to 7.4:50.2:42.4.
