Susong County, belonging to Anqing City, Anhui Province, is a county directly under the control of Anhui Province, is located in the combination of Anhui, Hubei and Jiangxi provinces, is located in the north bank of the first of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, east and Wangjiang County lake adjacent to the south of the Yangtze River and Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, Hukou County, Pengze County, across the river, the west and Huanggang City, Hubei Province, Huangmei County, Herb County, the north of the Taihu Lake County, with a total area of 2,394 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, the household population of Susong County was 863,000 people. It has a history of more than 2,200 years, and was established as Songzi Hou Guo in the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (184 B.C.), and renamed as Susong County in the eighteenth year of the reign of Emperor Kaihuang of the Sui Dynasty (598 A.D.). 2011 saw the establishment of Susong as a pilot county for the system of direct management of counties in Anhui Province. As of May 2022, Su Song County has a total of 2 streets, 9 towns and 12 townships under its jurisdiction, with the county people's government stationed at Taibai Road. Su Song County is the birthplace of Huangmei Opera, one of China's four major local theater genres, and the folk opera Wen Nan Lyrics is listed on the national intangible cultural heritage list; it is the hometown of Chinese poetry. In 2022, the gross regional product of Su Song County realized 26.252 billion yuan, calculated on the basis of comparable prices, an increase of 3.1% over the previous year.
