Tsoqen County, is a county in the southeastern part of the Ali Region of the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, 1,079 kilometers from Lhasa. The geographic coordinates are 30°51′-31°00′ north latitude and 85°09′-85°19′ east longitude, respectively. There are many lakes in the territory, with sufficient water sources. "Tsoqin" Tibetan language meaning "big lake", from the county seat in the eastern 10 kilometers of the "Zhari Namco" big saltwater lake and named. The average altitude of 4700 meters above sea level, is one of the few high-altitude county. The government is located in the village of Mendong, Tsoqin Town. The area is 22,890,000 square kilometers. According to the seventh national census, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Tsoqin County was 17,027 people.
In 2019, Tsokane County accomplished the gross regional product of 429.98 million yuan, the added value of primary industry of 94.04 million yuan, the added value of secondary industry of 85.92 million yuan, the general public budget revenue of 15.39 million yuan, and the general public budget expenditure of 89.802 million yuan.
The second line of the New Tibet Highway passes through. Tsoqen County is rich in livestock resources, and is one of the pure pastoral counties in Tibet and Ali region. The permanent residents are all Tibetans, believing in the White religion of Tibetan Buddhism, with a small number of people believing in Benzoism.
On December 9, 2019, after a study by the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Tsokane County was approved to withdraw from the poverty-stricken counties (districts).
