Lopu County, belongs to Hotan area of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located in the northern foothills of the Kunlun Mountains, on the edge of the Tarim Basin, at longitude 79°59′~81°83′E, latitude 36°30′~39°29′N, neighboring Celle County to the east, the Kunlun Mountains to the south, the Yulongkash River to the west as the boundary with Hotan County and Hotan City across the river, and extending into the Taklamakan Desert in the north, neighboring Aksu and Awati Counties, and with a north-south length of about 337.5 kilometers, an east-west width of about 24.9 kilometers to 67.5 kilometers, with a total area of about 14,287 square kilometers.In 2013, Lopu County had a total population of 241,200 people, including 12 ethnic groups such as Uyghurs, Han Chinese, Hui, Manchus, Kazakhs, Mongols, Tibetans, Qiangs, Yao, Yi, and Tujia.
In November 2020, Lopu County was assessed and verified to meet the standards and conditions for the exit of poor counties, and withdrew from the sequence of poor counties.
In 2012, the GDP of Lopu County was 1.497 billion yuan, an increase of 10.7% compared with 2011. Social fixed asset investment reached 1.54 billion yuan, an increase of 30% compared with 2011. The general budget revenue of local finance reached 71 million yuan, an increase of 20% compared with 2011.
