Awati County, belongs to Aksu Region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is located in the central and western part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the northwestern edge of Tarim Basin, the southern foothills of Tianshan Mountain, and the northern edge of Taklamakan Desert, bordering Aksu City in the northeast, Bachu County of Kashgar Region in the southwest, Keping County in the west, and Moyu County and Lopu County of Khotan Region in the south, with a total area of 12,500 sq. km. In 2021, Awati County has a total population of 267,500 people (including the three troupes). There are Uyghur, Han, Hui, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Mongolian, Siberian, Russian, Manchu, and Zhuang ethnic groups. As of October 2022, Awati County has seven towns and two townships under its jurisdiction. The county government is located at No. 56, Guangming Middle Road.
Awati is a translation of the Uyghur word meaning "prosperity". In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Awati was the third, fourth and fifth districts under the jurisdiction of Aksu County, most of the area. Republic of China eleven years (1922), set up Aksu County under the Awati sub-county. Nineteen years of the Republic of China (1930), Awati sub-county into a county. It is the national high-quality cotton production base, the famous China Cotton City, the hometown of Chinese long-staple cotton, the hometown of Chinese Moussalaise and the hometown of Duolang culture.
In 2021, the Gross Regional Product of Awati County was 7.729 billion yuan, an increase of 10% (at comparable prices). Among them: the added value of primary industry is 2.584 billion yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 1.15 billion yuan; the added value of tertiary industry is 3.995 billion yuan, and the ratio of the three industries is 33.43:14.88:51.69.
