Lvliang City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province, is located in the central west side of Shanxi Province, spanning latitude 36°43'~38°43'N and longitude 110°22'~112°19'E. The city is close to Taiyuan and Jinzhong in the east, separated from the Yellow River by the Shaanxi Province in the west, and bordering Linfen and Xinzhou cities in the south and the north respectively, with a total area of 21,000 square kilometers. The city basically belongs to the temperate continental monsoon climate, with cold winters, hot summers and four distinct seasons. As of the end of 2022, the city's resident population was 3,370,500, with 1 municipal district, 10 counties, and 2 county-level cities under its jurisdiction, and the municipal government is stationed in Lishi District.
The establishment of Lvliang can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period, when Lvliang had Quyiup, Pinglingyi, Zhongyangyi and Guayan County, etc. In 1971, Lvliang District was formed, and then the district was abolished and established as a city in 2003. Lvliang is an old revolutionary area, which was once the main battlefield of the Red Army's Eastern Campaign, the capital of Jinsui Border Region and the seat of the organs of the Central Post-Commission; Lvliang is a famous production base of white wine, jujubes, walnuts and small grains, and it is the largest production base of fragrant white wine in China, and it has been rated as the "World's Top Ten Spirits Producing Regions". 2020, Lvliang was awarded the title of National Model City of Double Embrace. In 2020, Lvliang City was honored as the national model city of double embrace. There are two national scenic spots in Lvliang, namely North Wudang Mountain and Moraine Pass.
In 2023, Lvliang's annual gross domestic product (GDP) will be 236.61 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3% at constant prices. The added value of primary industry is 10.97 billion yuan, an increase of 4.5%; the added value of secondary industry is 159.37 billion yuan, an increase of 3.3%; the added value of tertiary industry is 66.27 billion yuan, an increase of 6%. The structure of the three industries was 4.6:67.4:28; pulling the city's economic growth by 0.3, 2 and 2 percentage points respectively.
