Foping County, part of Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the northeastern part of Hanzhong City, east of Ningshan County and Shiquan County in Ankang City, north of Zhouzhi County in Xi'an City and Taibai County in Baoji City, and southwest of Yangxian County, with an area of 1,279 square kilometers. Foping County is known as the "hometown of giant pandas" and the "hometown of Chinese dogwood". In the 13th year of the Qin Dynasty (312 years ago), it belonged to Chenggu County of Hanzhong County. In the Western Han Dynasty, it belonged to Anyang County of Hanzhong County. In the fourth year of Daoguang in Qing Dynasty (1824), Foping Hall was established. In February, 1913, Foping Hall was changed to Foping County, which belonged to Hanzhong Prefecture.In February, 1996, Foping County belonged to Hanzhong City.On December 8, 2021, Foping County was listed in the Shaanxi Province Regional Tourism Demonstration Area by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
