Lichang District, belonging to Qingdao City, Shandong Province, is the central city of Qingdao, located in the northern part of Qingdao city, centered at about 36°10' north latitude and 120°26' east longitude, with an area of 99.9 square kilometers. Lichang District is located in the north temperate humid climate region, which is directly regulated by the marine environment and influenced by the monsoon winds, and is mainly characterized by an oceanic climate, with humid air, abundant rainfall, moderate temperatures, and four distinct seasons. As of 2018, LPC has 11 streets under its jurisdiction, with the district government stationed in Licun Street. As of the end of 2022, Lichang District had a resident population of 761,400 people.
Lichang District consists of the area north of the Lichun River in the former Cangkou District (referred to as the "Cangkou District") and the area north of the Zhangcun River in Lichun Town in the former Laoshan District (referred to as the "Lichun District"). At the end of the Qing Dynasty, it was the jurisdiction of Renhua Township of Jimo County. In the eleventh year of the Republic of China (1922), after the takeover of Jiaoao by the Beiyang government, the territory of Lichang was divided into two townships, namely Sicang and Licun, and in May 1994, Lichang District was established by merging Cangkou and Licun Districts. Lichang District is the host of the 2014 Qingdao World Expo, and is the gateway to Qingdao.
In 2022, Lichang District realized a GDP of 61.261 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%.
In 2023, Lichang District realized a GDP of 63.35 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 4.5%.
