Licheng District, belonging to Jinan City, Shandong Province, is located in the center of Shandong Province, east and south of Jinan City. South of Mount Tai, bordering Taishan District, Dayue District; north of the Yellow River, and Jiyang District; east of Zhangqiu District. To the west, it is adjacent to Changqing District, Shizhong District, Lixia District and Tianqiao District, with a total area of 1,298.57 square kilometers. As of February 2023, Licheng District has 19 streets under its jurisdiction. In 2022, the resident population of Licheng District was 1,125,400, with a household population of 750,600. The People's Government of the district is located at No. 47, Shanda North Road, Shanda Road Street.
Licheng is named after its location in Lishan (the area of present-day Thousand Buddha Mountain). In Han Dynasty, Licheng County was set up. In the 18th year of the Republic of China (1929), the analysis of Lixing County and the four suburbs set up Jinan City. 1987, the abolition of Lixing County and the suburbs of Jinan City, Jinan City, Lixing District was established. There are more than 20 colleges and research institutes, including Shandong University, Shandong University of Architecture and Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences. It is the basic balanced county of national compulsory education development, the national urban-rural integration development pilot area, the national rural innovation and entrepreneurship typical county, the revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization of the district area.
In 2023, the gross regional product of Licheng District was 132.78 billion yuan, an increase of 6.0% over the previous year.
