Sucheng District, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, is the main city district of Suqian City, the municipal seat of the district, is Suqian political, economic, cultural, educational, international business, financial and transportation center, located in the northern part of Jiangsu Province, Suqian City, the central and western part of Suqian City. As of March 2021, the jurisdiction of Suqian District covers an area of 941 square kilometers, with 10 streets, 8 towns, 1 township and 2 township-level parks under the jurisdiction of Suqian City, and the district people's government is located in Shuangzhuang Street. According to the seventh national census data, as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020, the resident population of Sucheng District was 845,147, accounting for 16.95% of Suqian City.
Sucheng is named after the main city of Suqian.In 1996, the county-level Suqian City was abolished to establish the prefecture-level Suqian City, and the former county-level Suqian City was divided into Sucheng District and Suyu County.In 2004, Suyu County was abolished to establish Sucheng District, and the seven townships under its original jurisdiction, as well as five townships from Siyang County and one township from Sihong County, were transferred into the jurisdiction of Sucheng District.In 2013, Wangguanjizi and Caijizi townships in Sucheng District were transferred into Sucheng District.
In 2021, Sucheng District will realize a GDP of 46.392 billion yuan, complete a general public budget revenue of 3 billion yuan, fixed asset investment above scale will increase by 8.7% year-on-year, total retail sales of consumer goods will reach 30.856 billion yuan, and the per capita disposable income of all residents will reach 32,030 yuan.
