Jiangan District, belonging to Wuhan City, Hubei Province, is located in the north bank of the Yangtze River and the northeast of Wuhan City, neighboring Huangpi District to the east, Wuchang District and Hongshan District in the south across the Yangtze River, bordering Jianghan District along Jianghan Road and Sanyeqiao Road to the west, and connecting East and West Lake District to the north, which is one of the central urban areas of Wuhan and the seat of Wuhan Municipal Committee of the Chinese Communist Party of China (CCPC), Wuhan People's Government, Wuhan People's Congress Standing Committee, and Wuhan Political Consultative Conference Committee, with a total area of 80.28 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Jiangan District was 1,051,100 people.
Jiang'an District is one of the components of Hankou, which once served as the political center of the country and the center of foreign communication, and is the location of the former site of the Wuhan Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the former site of the Wuhan National Government. The Hankou Concession, located along the river in Jiangan District, is the third largest concession area of the Great Powers in China after Tianjin and Shanghai. Since the Qing Xianfeng eleven years (1861) since the opening of Hankou, there have been Britain, Russia, France, the United States, Germany, Japan and other 20 countries set up consulates here. Jiangan is also the birthplace of the Beijing-Hankow Railway workers' strike, with many old sites of "red culture", and the Hankow Riverbank is the largest riverfront park in Asia.
In 2022, Jiangan District will realize a GDP of 152.894 billion yuan, of which the added value of the secondary industry will be 28.742 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry will be 124.152 billion yuan.
