Tianmen City, anciently known as Jingling, is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province, a city under direct provincial control, a member of the Wuhan Metropolitan Area, the city cluster in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and a regional center city of Hubei Province.In 1994, with the approval of the State Council, Hubei Province decided to put Tianmen City under direct provincial control. As of 2022, Tianmen City has 3 streets, 21 towns, and 1 township under its jurisdiction, with a resident population of 1,105,800.
