Hebi City, ancient name Chaoge, prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, is located in the northern part of Henan Province, the transition zone from the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountains to the North China Plain. It has a total area of 2,182 square kilometers, accounting for about 1.3% of the area of Henan Province. Hebi has a warm-temperate semi-humid monsoon climate, with four distinct seasons, plenty of light and large temperature differences. As of the end of 2022, Hebi had a resident population of 1,572,400. As of June 2023, Hebi City has three districts and two counties under its jurisdiction, as well as one development zone: the Hebi Economic and Technological Development Zone. The municipal people's government is located in Qibin District.
Hebi City is the place where the story of Fengshenbang took place. Chaogou, the capital of the Shang Dynasty, and Zhongmou, the capital of Zhao, one of the Seven Heroes of the Warring States, are both located in Hebi City. Lin, Shi, Wei, Kang, Yin and South Korea (North Korea) Kang's, Chin's and other surnames originated here, Hebi is an important birthplace of East Asian ethnic surnames.
Hebi's advanced electronics industry provides technical support for communication equipment for China's manned space program, and the core components of FAST, the world's largest radio telescope, are made in Hebi. As the world's largest magnesium metal base, Hebi's new magnesium metal materials are also used in smartphones, aerospace and missiles.In 2023, the city's GDP of Hebi was 103.32 billion yuan.
