Sansha City, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hainan Province, is located in the south-central part of the South China Sea and the southern part of Hainan Province, with jurisdiction over the islands and reefs of the Xisha Islands, the Zhongsha Islands, and the Nansha Islands and their sea areas, with a land area of more than 20 square kilometers, and a land and sea area of about 2 million square kilometers. Sansha City has Xisha District and Nansha District, with 10 communities under its jurisdiction. The municipal people's government is located on Yongxing Island in Xisha District.
