Haikou, prefecture-level city and capital of Hainan Province, the strategic pivot city of the national "Belt and Road", the core city of Hainan Free Trade Port, an important node city of the Beibu Gulf City Cluster, a third-tier city, is located in the northern part of Hainan Island, between latitudes of 19°31′-20°04′N and longitudes of 110°07′-110°42′E. It is the political, economic, scientific, technological and cultural center of Hainan Province. Adjacent to Wenchang in the east, Chengmai in the west, Ding'an in the south, and the Qiongzhou Strait in the north, it is the political, economic, scientific and technological, and cultural center of Hainan Province.At the end of 2022, Haikou had a resident population of 2,939,700 people. As of October 2022, Haikou City has 4 districts, namely Xiuying District, Longhua District, Qiongshan District and Meilan District, with 21 streets, 22 towns, 211 communities and 248 administrative villages, and the People's Government of Haikou City is stationed at No. 6, Changbin East Fourth Street, Xiuying District.
Haikou City is located in the tropics, is a rich seaside natural charming scenery of the southern coastal city. Located in the northern edge of the low-latitude tropics, belonging to the tropical monsoon climate. Since the Northern Song Dynasty since the opening of the port, there have been thousands of years of history. In 2023, Haikou's gross regional product (GRP) was 235.844 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 9.3% at constant prices.
