Shanglin County, belonging to Nanning City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is located in the south-central part of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at the eastern foot of Daming Mountain, northeast of Nanning City, neighboring Xingbin District in the northeast, Binyang County in the south, adjoining Wuming District in the southwest, connecting with Mashan County in the northwest, and relying on Xincheng County in the north. The total area of the jurisdiction is 1,869.64 square kilometers. As of the end of 2022, the total population of Shanglin County was 498,044. In the 33rd year of Qin Shi Huangdi (214 BC), Shanglin County was established as Guilin County, and Shanglin County was the land of Guilin County. on June 27, 2003, the establishment of Nanning District was abolished, and Shanglin County was transferred to the jurisdiction of Nanning City.
