Lianping County, a county under the jurisdiction of Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, with a total area of 2,275.08 square kilometers, is located in the northern part of Guangdong Province and in the upper reaches of the Xinfeng River. There are 13 towns under the jurisdiction of Lianping County. The county government is located in Yuanshan Town. According to the seventh population census, Lianping County has a resident population of 285,200.
Lianping Prefecture was established in 1634, the seventh year of the Ming Dynasty. In the Qing Dynasty, it was reorganized as a prefectural state without any county, and in 1911, it was changed from a prefectural state to a county. 1958, it was merged with Heping County to form JiuLian County, and in 1962, Heping and Lian were separated. 1988, in January, it was subordinated to Heyuan Municipality. Lianping County is a national ecological demonstration area, China's livable and workable model county, the National Advanced County for Comprehensive Environmental Improvement, the National Advanced Unit for the Creation of Rule of Law County, the National Civilized County Town, the Hometown of China's Eagle Peach, the Pilot Fiscal Reform of Directly Administered Counties in Guangdong Province, a sanitary town in Guangdong Province, and a county of the former Central Soviet Union Area; it is the first county where the Daguang Expressway enters into Guangdong from the south, and the Guangdong-Ganzhou Expressway, the Yue-Xiang Expressway and the Shankun Expressway cross the county. It is the first county to enter Guangdong on the south of the Daguang Expressway. By the end of 2006, the proven iron ore reserves ranked first in the province, and the tungsten and tin ore reserves ranked first in South China. Lianping County is one of the birthplaces of Hakka culture, and was selected as one of the "Top 200 Demonstration Counties with Characteristic and Charming Features of China's Most Promising Investment Potential".
In 2023, the GDP of Lianping County will be 10.62 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 4.6%.
