Huangshan District, anciently known as Taiping County, is part of Huangshan City, Anhui Province, located in the south of Anhui Province, embracing the entirety of the Huangshan Mountain Scenic Area, with the center of the city located to the north of the scenic area. As of the end of 2019, it has jurisdiction over 9 towns and 5 townships. With an area of 1,775 square kilometers, Huangshan District borders with Xiuning and Yixian counties in the southwest, Jingde and Jixi counties in the east, Huizhou District in the southeast, Shitai and Qingyang counties in the west, and Jing County in the northeast, Huangshan District is the distribution center and leisure center of the "two mountains and one lake" (Huangshan Mountain, Jiuwashan Mountain, and Taiping Lake) golden tourism area in Anhui Province. Huangshan District As of the end of 2022, the resident population of Huangshan District was 159,100. Formerly known as Taiping County, Huangshan District was upgraded to Huangshan City (county-level city) in 1983, and Huangshan City (prefecture-level city) was set up in the former Huizhou Region in 1987, which became Huangshan District of Huangshan City after retaining the administrative division moniker. Huangshan District and Huangshan Mountain has a close relationship, in which the northern gate of the Huangshan Mountain scenic area is located in Geng Town, the eastern gate is located in Tanjiaqiao Town, the southern gate is located in Tangkou Town, the western gate is located in Jiao Village Town, under the jurisdiction of the townships of Gantang, Xiantang, Sanyuan, and other townships can be directly observed in the peaks of Huangshan Mountain. The famous specialties of Huangshan District mainly include Huangshan Maofeng, Taiping Monkey Kui, Huangshan Stone Ear, Woodcutting Mountain Cephalotaxus, etc.; scenic spots mainly include Huangshan Scenic Spot, Taiping Lake, Emerald Valley, Hibiscus Valley, Huangdi Yuan, Divine Immortal Cave, Cuixi Temple, Flying Dragon Waterfall, Hexagonal House, etc. In 2022, the gross regional product of Huangshan District will be 13.888 billion yuan, an increase of 0.7% over 2021.
