Dingyuan County, belonging to Chuzhou City, Anhui Province, is located in the north side of the Jianghuai Watershed, northwest of Chuzhou City, bordering with Nanqiao District and Mingguang City of Chuzhou City in the east, Changfeng County and Huainan City in the west, and Fengyang County in the north. The area of 3002 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 22 townships, a provincial-level development zones and a national agricultural demonstration park. 2021 the end of the year, Dingyuan County, the total household population of 979,569 people.
During the Qin and Han Dynasties, there were two counties, Yinling and Dongcheng, and the Quyang Waiting State, and in the 5th year of the common era of Emperor Wu of Liang in the North and South Dynasties (A.D. 524), Dingyuan County was set up, which means "stabilizing a faraway place", and has a history of nearly 1,500 years so far. Over the centuries, a number of powerful figures have emerged, such as the famous prime minister of the Southern Song Dynasty, Dong Huai, the prime ministers of the Ming Dynasty, Li Shanchang and Hu Weiyong, as well as the famous general of the Eastern Wu Dynasty, Lu Su, and the anti-Japanese hero of the Ming Dynasty, Qi Jiguang, etc., which are all originated from here, and it is known as the hometown of generals and prime ministers and the place where the poetry of Huaishi, the word of Shou, and the articles of Ding are written. Since ancient times, Dingyuan County has been known as "the hometown of generals and prime ministers" and "the home of poetry, longevity and articles".
The terrain of Dingyuan County is roughly high in the north and low in the south. The landforms in the county are divided into three types: hills, undulating plains and plains. Dingyuan was known as "a place connecting eight counties and nine provinces" in ancient times, and it is still the key point of China's north and south. The Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railroad, Huainan Railway and Hexin Railway (under construction) run through the county, while the Beijing-Taiwan Expressway, Chu-Xin Expressway and Xu-Ming-Chao Expressway (under construction) run across the county. Dingyuan County is a national pilot county of smart city, a national pilot area of rural reform, a national pilot county of comprehensive reform of small and medium-sized cities, and a national advanced county of scientific and technological progress.
In 2022, Dingyuan County realized a GDP of 38.01 billion yuan, up 4.1% year-on-year.
