Longwan District, belonging to Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, is located in the southeastern part of Zhejiang Province, the south coast of Oujiang River estuary, east of the East China Sea. It is located between 120°42′~120°51′ east longitude and 27°54′~28°1′ north latitude. With a land area of 323 square kilometers and a coastline of 68 kilometers, it has a subtropical monsoon climate. As of October 2022, Longwan District has 10 streets under its jurisdiction. The district government is located at 506 Yongning West Road. As of the end of 2022, Longwan District 2022 had a resident population of 732,900 and a household population of 343,800.
Longwan District is located in the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties for Ou (compost, Ou) land. Spring and Autumn and Warring States belonged to the Yue land. Qin belongs to minzhong county. West Han Dynasty is Dong'ou country. Longwan by the mountains near the river situation is dangerous, in the Ming and Qing dynasties are for the sea defense. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), belonging to Yongjia County, Ouhai Road, Zhejiang Province. on December 27, 1984, the People's Government of Zhejiang Province approved the establishment of Longwan District. The three major cultural brands of Longwan District are the ancient fort culture represented by Yongchang Fort, the folk culture represented by Tanghe Religion and the celebrity culture represented by Zhang Zong. Longwan District is the core area and pioneer area of Wenzhou coastal industrial zone in Zhejiang Province, and is an important undertaking base for the eastward shift of Wenzhou city. There are Wenzhou Longwan International Airport, Wenzhou Port Longwan 10,000 tons wharf, Jinwen Railway Freight Station in the district. Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou Expressway and Jinliwen Expressway cross the territory, and Airport Avenue and Ouhai Avenue run through the east and west, with convenient three-dimensional transportation by sea, land and air.
In 2022, Longwan District realizes a gross regional product of 86.858 billion yuan, up 4.5% year-on-year, and the per capita GDP reaches 118,000 yuan, up 3.7%.
