Wensu County, belonging to Aksu Region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the south foothill of Tomur Peak in the middle part of the Tianshan Mountains in the west, on the northwest edge of the Tarim Basin, bordering with Baicheng County and Xinhe County in the east, Aksu City in the south, and Ushi County across the Toshkent River in the west, and bordering with the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Zhaosu County of the Yili-Hasake Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang in the north. It lies between 40°52-42°15′ north latitude and 79°28′-81°30′ east longitude, with an east-west length of 171 kilometers, a north-south width of 158 kilometers, and a total area of 14569.3 square kilometers. As of October 2022, Wensu County has 8 towns and 5 townships under its jurisdiction.
Wensu is the name of the western region in Han Dynasty, Uyghur said "Aksu Kuanna Xiehaier", that is, the old city of Aksu means, there is also a solution "Wensu" Uyghur "more water" meaning. In 2022, Wensu County will realize a GDP of 11.157 billion yuan, of which: the added value of the primary industry will be 3.579 billion yuan, the added value of the secondary industry will be 2.669 billion yuan, and the added value of the tertiary industry will be 4.909 billion yuan. The structural percentage of primary, secondary and tertiary industries in the GDP is 32:24:44.
