Hancheng City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Shaanxi Province, with Weinan City in charge. Located on the west bank of the Yellow River in the east of Shaanxi Province, in the northeast corner of the Guanzhong Basin, it relies on Yichuan in the north, Huanglong in the west, Heyang in the south, and Hejin, Xiangning and Wanrong counties and cities in Shanxi Province across the Yellow River in the east, and it is more than 240 km away from Xi'an, the capital city of the province, with a total area of 1,621 square kilometers. Hancheng has a long history, and was known as "Dragon Gate" during the Xia and Shang Dynasties. In the Western Zhou Dynasty, it was called Han (Hou) State, and later Liang (Bo) State. In the Spring and Autumn and Warring States period, it was known as Shaoliang Eup. In the eleventh year of King Huiwen of Qin (327 BC), Xiayang County was established. In the 18th year of Kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (598), it was renamed Hancheng County. Thereafter, there were many changes. In the first year of Tiancheng of Mingzong of the Later Tang Dynasty (926), the name of Hancheng County was resumed, and has not been changed since then. Hancheng is a national food safety demonstration city, a national sanitary city, a Chinese excellent tourist city, a key city for PPP innovation work in the field of major municipal engineering, and a superiority zone for Chinese specialty agricultural products.
